- ELIGIBILITY
- In order to apply for graduate programs, candidates must have at least one undergraduate degree or be in the last semester of their undergraduate education.
- In order to apply for doctoral programs, it is necessary to graduate with a master's degree (with thesis) or a program that offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees together.
- Candidates applying for Master's (with thesis) programs must have a minimum GPA of 65/100.
- Candidates applying for doctoral programs must have a minimum GPA of 65/100 for the undergraduate degree and 75/100 for master's degree.
- Reference letters from two academician.
- FOREIGN LANGUAGE EXAMINATION
- Foreign Language Examination is not required for foreign students.
- DETERMINING THE ENTRY GRADE FOR GRADUATE PROGRAMS
- Master’s degree programs: %100 of the undergraduate GPA;
- Doctoral programs: 50% of the undergraduate GPA and 50% of the master's GPA;
- For those admitted without a master's degree, the entire undergraduate GPA is taken into consideration.
- APPLICATION PERIOD
- In general, the application period starts in May-June. It is the responsibility of the candidate to follow the information regarding the application and interview dates from the announcements published on the website of the Institute of Social Sciences. - APPLICATION PROCESS
- The candidate students may apply to graduate programs online through our online application system AKSİS (https://aksis.istanbul.edu.tr/Account/LogOn?ReturnUrl=%2f).
- Since the information requested in online application procedures will be the declaration of the candidate, the information entered cannot be changed after being saved. Final registrations of those who make false declarations and those whose documents are deficient or falsified will not be made, their records will be canceled even if they have been registered.
- Requests for information about the Graduate School of Social Sciences may be submitted to sbe@istanbul.edu.tr.
- Applicants should bring their transcripts (printed and approved) showing their graduation grade point average both during the interview and during the final registration.

How to apply?
1. İÜYÖS
İÜYÖS is an examination taken by foreign or overseas students who wish to study at İstanbul University. The results obtained from this exam can be used for applying for İstanbul University (İU) foreign or overseas students’ quotas. This examination is conducted by Istanbul University.
İÜYÖS will be held around April.
For the İÜYÖS examinations which will also be given outside Turkey, the hours are announced on the official website of the university.
